It has been long i did not type on this blog. I did not type on this blog is because I don't have any time to type. Anyway, last week I and my group experimented about changes in material. I know it sounds funny because I'm in grade 6 and I'm still experimenting those thing but what can I do? I'm just listening to my teachers command. We experiment of burning candle wax, butter, sugar, dissolving water with flour and dissolving baking soda with vinegar. It all turned to be a, well, boring experiment and nothing so special and fun about it. All we need to do is to observe what will heppen when we do those things. Here are some pictures I post when we are doing the experiments. Take note that I put 2 links for more info at the bottom.

Experiment on Yeast cell
Today, we are experimenting about yeast cell. As you know, yeast produce Carbon Dioxide and Alcohol when they grow and divide. We are proving too that cell need energy to grow. So, we have an experiment. First, pour 250 ml of hot water to a flask 1 and flask 2 (we need 2 flasks) . Add a teaspoon of Fermipan yeast and a teaspoon of sugar to flask 1 and only a teaspoon of yeast to flask 2. Cover both flask with a baloon. Here how it works: mesure the ballon every 5 minute. As the yeast grow and divide, it produce more carbon dioxide and alcohol. The flask with most cell will have a bigger baloon. You will find out that Flask 1's baloon is bigger than the flask 2's baloon. This is because the sugar in flask 1 provide energy for the yeast to grow and multiply faster. The more yeast present, the more carbon dioxide and alchohol are produced.
This is my team at work, I'm the far right
This is the result, the big baloon is flask 1 and the small one is the flask 2
For more info of yeast, please visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeast
Thats all for today bye!
What happen to my blog
I know it has been long since I have not write on my blog and don't think i'm gonna abandon this blog. Since I have moved to grade six, I have not write anything since my teacher don't ask me to write anything. This time my science teacher is Mr.Edmar from the philliphines, not Mr.Anjar anymore. For me, he is a little boring than Mr.Anjar who like to make things funny. Most of the time Mr.Edmar dosent have any expression on his face. he's like a robot and he speaks too slow (Sorry to Mr.Edmar who maybe reading this at the moment, but its the truth.) For me, Mr.Anjar is the best science teacher. Now that I has to make another E-Portfolio, this blog will be reactivated

Lesson about soil
Hi there guys!, today we have just finished another unit about soil. In this unit, we learn how soil form and what and how to prevent soil erosion. I now have known how do soil form. There are 7 ways how soil is formed:

Electric circuit project
Hi there, I have just finish another science project. We have just made a series and parallel electric circuits. As you see in first picture above, I'm the one with glasses holding the electric circuit in the far right. To make them, it takes a long time. Actually, only the parallel circuit that makes the whole project takes a long time. There are 2 differences between the 2 circuits. in series circuit, if 1 bulb has blown out, the other bulb will also died. But, in parallel circuit, if one of the bulb is blown, the other will still lives. OK, now back to the project. what we need to build a parallel and series circuit, we need at least 25 alligator clips, 5 bulbs, 4 batteries, 2 battery casing, 4 bulb casing and some wires. I will not explain here how to make it because it will be too complicated, you can just browse to find it. As the result of my project, I succeed to make it but, I got some problems while connecting the wires to the alligator clips because its very hard to open the rubber covering to expose the copper and then putting it into the hole of the alligator clips and then twisting it and then covering the alligator clips again. But, the important thing is that I succeed. I now also know the difference between series and parallel circuit. but now, Think writing time is over, so now I will publish it.

Gravitational and frictional force
Hi everyone! I'm back! This week, we are learning gravitational force and frictional force as you see in the picture. Gravitational force is a force that keeps everything from floating to space.Gravitational force is different from each planet because of its size. All objects have weigh because if the gravitation around us. Frictional force is a opposing motion. it is produced when 2 sides rub. frictional force slows down moving objects. Frictional force also produced when things move trough air and water. they are divided by 2 frictional force : air resistance and water resistance. in both resistance, bigger object gets less resistance. frictional force can also be useful. in our daily live, frictional force gives us grip. without frictional force, we cannot hold anything. But sometimes, frictional force can cause problem. such as making things overheat and wear out. there are ways to overcome frictions. we can reduce friction by the use of lubricants, roller and wheels. but I think I need to end this so, bye!

Science annual project week
Hi guys! I'm back writing posts again. This month is full of projects and today my group finished our project. We are building Indonesia's monument named Monas. After we have done building it, we list down materials we use to make it. We use cardboard for the base and the body because it is strong and rigid. We use DAS clay for the top of it because it is faster to dry and easy to be painted. We also use the clay for making decoration around it like trees. Then, our teacher ask us to list down what psychical/chemical changes that occurred when we build it. Sadly, there is only physical changes that is done while building it: cutting the card board, molding clay, drying glue and drying paint. We were also told to write down the steps of building it. Here are the steps: Draw 4 long rectangle, 1 small-sized square, 4 medium-sized square and 1 big square on a very big piece of a cardboard. Then, cut it out. After that, we glue them together in the form of Monas. Then, we mold the DAS clay into the shape of the top of Monas. Then we paint it. Done! Easy right? But I think its getting dark, so goodbye!

chemical and physical changes portfolio
Hi guys! I'm now posting my first science portfolio in grade 5. its my slideshow of chemical and physical changes. its not very hard doing it because its only a simple P.P.T and just for your info, I like making Power Point Presentations because its kinda fun. I am good at making PPT because I ever join a science competition and I need to make a PPT. Thanks to the help of my teacher, MR.Anjar, I am able to join the competition but, I lose. So, with that experience, I could make a good PPT and thats for now and goodbye!

introduction to my blog
Hi guys, as you see in the title, my name is Andrew, I'm making this blog for my science e-portfolio. The idea of this blog making comes from my science teacher. He said that the grade 1 and 2 students in Singapore have their own blog for portfolios so he think why not grade 5 and 6 like me make a blog for portfolio. I agreed with this idea because it also save paper and by saving paper, we can save trees and BTW I like to post something in the internet. I think that's all for now. Bye
